A Nigerian wins Young Neurosurgeon award

A Nigerian Neurosurgeon, Dr. Omotayo Ojo has won the prestigious Young Neurosurgeon award of the World Federation of Neurosurgeon Societies.

Dr. Omotayo Ojo who is a consultant Neurosurgeon at the Department of Surgery, Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH), Idi-Araba, Lagos won the award in the just concluded congress of the World Federation of Neurosurgeon Societies held in the south Korean capital city, Seoul between September 9 to 12, 2013.

Dr. Omotayo Ojo won the award due to his outstanding work on Endoscopic Third Ventriculostomy (ETV) in the treatment of hydrocephalus in children.

The Young Neurosurgeons Award is for neurosurgeons who obtained their neurosurgical qualifications less than ten (10) years ago who have shown remarkable level of excellence in the practice of neurosurgery. The award consists of an honorarium of $1500.
